Government Official’s Residence
Tall trees have changed into new leaves
A lot of shade envelops the outlying areas of soil.
What words to use to describe this house
It looks like hermits live here.
As the highest official I lie down below the trees
Hope to have both leisure and laziness.
Arise to taste one bowl of scented tea
Take a walk to chant from one scroll or book.
Early plum trees bear green fruit
Left-over cherries fall down as red pearls.
My young daughter plays with the pavilion fruit.
Frolics and has fun pulling upon the people’s garment fronts.
Every night overflows with calm
Nest of birds cry out to each other.
Chirping magpies protect their young
Young crows cawing for their mother.
Not just the birds talk to each other
I also guide my youngster.
