South Lake Early Spring

Nan Hu Zao Chun

Feng hui yun duan yu chu qing
Fan zhao hu bian nuan fu ming.
Luan dian sui hong shan xing fa
Ping pu xin lu shui pin sheng.

Chi di bai yan fei reng chong
She se huang ying yu wei cheng.
Bu dao jiang nan chun bu hao
Nian nian shuai bing jian xin qing.

South Lake Early Spring

Winds return, scattered clouds, rain begins to clear
Shiny lake bright, shores warming up.
Mountain red apricot blossoms open, random dot patterns
Emerged water ferns evenly spread out, green and fresh.

White geese often fly low again and again
Yellow orioles hoarse from singing, chicks yet to utter a sound.
Can say the Jiangnan spring times are no good.
Year after year, my aging and illnesses reduce my heart’s desires.
