Home-Going
The east-bound ship laden with my home-going dream
Will make from post to post a long trip on the stream.
Thinking of my first mooring by the isle, I frown
At the sundown,
Amid the mist-veiled trees I see the town.
My forehead dotted with new frosty hair, I fear.
Once I wore my official gown
Before the crown;
Now coming home, I’ll find fewer friends near.
How sad and drear
To be more familiar abroad than here!
