fold by fold
Each overhanging cliff
like a thread splits the sky;
Like a thread splits the sky;
And on the broken headstones
Old mosses gnaw at inscribed words.
Thunderous winds
clang like metal;
Dark, forbidding, at the bottom of the pool,
the cave of the landslide dragon;
The cave of the landslide dragon;
we watch prosperity,
we watch decline,
the rise and the fall of dynastic houses,
under an old moon.
