Qing Long Si Tan Bi Shang Ren Xiong Yuan Ji Bing Xu
Gao chu chang zhao ti
Xu kong ju you ni ?
Zuo kan nan mo qi
Xia ting qin cheng ji.
Miao miao gu yan qi
Qian qian yuan shu qi.
Qing shan wan jing wai
Luo ri wu ling xi.
Yan jie jin wu ran
Xin kong an ke mi.
Another Poem in a Series About Brother and Abbot Tan Bi at the Qinglong Temple Courtyard
Situated up high, a large and open cistern catches rainwater
Shouldn’t the guiding principle of emptiness have an indication ?
Sit and look at southern fields straddled by footpaths
Below can hear Qin city chickens.
Very vast and distant, solitary smoke rises up
Very attractive, distant trees same height and in a row.
Beyond ten thousand fields and villages, more green mountains
Sunset, Wuling in the west.
Today’s field of vision without a stain or contamination
Heart-mind empty and tranquil, yet enchanted.
