Guo Gan Hua Si Tan Xing Shang Ren Shan Yuan

Mu chi qiong zhu zhang
Xiang dai hu xi tou.
Cui ke wen shan xiang
Gui fang zhu shui liu.

Ye hua cong fa hao
Gu niao yi sheng you.
Ye zuo kong lin ji
Song feng zhi si qiu.

At sunset you hold your bamboo walking cane
We wait for each other at the head of Tiger Stream.
A tiger roar echoes against the mountains, destroying the guest’s concentration
Follow water flows back to the house.

Wild flowers opened up everywhere
Valley bird, single sound within remote serenity.
Evening sit in meditation, empty forest quiet and still
Upright pine trees in the wind, just like during autumn.

Notes:

Ganhua Temple: Buddhist temple in Lantian

Tiger Stream: Alluding to Hui Yuan (334-416), founder of the Pure Land sect of Buddhism.
