Cheng Pu was born in the late Eastern Han dynasty in Yuzhang Commandery (present-day Jiangxi Province). He began his career as a minor official in the local government but later joined the warlord Sun Jian’s army as a military officer. The victory at Red Cliffs was a turning point in the war and helped to secure Wu’s position as one of the Three Kingdoms.

Cheng Pu was also known for his loyalty and integrity. He remained faithful to the Sun family even during times of adversity and never betrayed his lords. His reputation for honesty and uprightness earned him the respect and admiration of his peers.

Cheng Pu lived to an old age and served the Kingdom of Wu until his death. His contributions to the kingdom’s success and his character as a loyal and virtuous general have made him a beloved figure in Chinese history and literature.
