Jiuzhaigou 九寨沟

Literally meaning ‘nine-village river’, Jiuzhaigou got its name from the nine Tibetan villages that surround it. Located in Jiuzhaigou County in the Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan Province, Jiuzhaigou is the branch of Baihe River, the upper reach of Baishuigou River.
Sitting among the mountains in Jiuzhai in northern Sichuan, the Jiuzhaigou Scenic Spot boasts lakes, waterfalls, snow-capped mountains and forests. Far away cities, this scenic spot has less people and the sceneries there are still in their natural states. The scenic spot has six areas, which include; Changhai, Jianyan, Nuorilang, Shuzheng, Zharu and Heihai, which are famous worldwide for its green trees, waterfalls, snow peaks and Tibetan lifestyles. The Y-shaped mainstream river consists of three branches with a total length of more than 50 km. It has 114 lakes, 17 waterfall clusters, five travertine streams, 47 springs and 11 sections of swift currents. The fall of the river exceeds 1,000 meters, which winds its way through snow peaks, forests and valleys for 50 km.

It is a huge scenic spot that features high mountains, lakes and waterfall clusters. It combines natural sceneries such as lakes, streams, waterfalls, snow peaks, forests and travertine streams with Tibetan lifestyle, which is unique in China and rarely seen worldwide. Haizi, the most beautiful scenery in Jiuzhaigou, is a colorful lake with 108 steps. Here, you can see the grand view of its springs, waterfalls, and swift rivers running in the valleys.
